Sharon, Troy, Jamie and Mike did a reverse Syd’s (72 km, Tai Tapu, Gebbies Pass, Governors Bay, Lyttelton), sharing the VS50K, Maxi and X30. The X30 runs fast (>50 km/h), but is sluggish on the gas. Noticed that the clutch cable is frayed and needs to be replaced. Mike and I took the MS50V and X30 on a run up Dyers Pass, along Summit road, down Gebbies Pass, and through the Lyttelton tunnel. Same run as last week, this time also with Sharon and the VS50K. Good day for it, and the Puchs turned a fewįixed the clutch cable using parts I had ordered from. Gary joined Sharon, Mike and me on his VS50L to do a reverse Syd’s run. Treated the X30 to a new spark plug as Troy took it to drive to work for the first time this season. The X30 now uses the original air filter. The X30 broke down a few times and I suspect it is the ignition coil. On the way to the VCC Swap meet, the X30 broke down again with an ignition problem (no spark). Tested the condensor by bypassing it, which resulted in a spark. Lowered the needle to the second lowest position to improve take off. Greased the speedo drive which now working fine again. Sold the X30 on TradeMe for NZD1100 to Harvey from Nelson. ![]()
